Since Sept. 2018, Michaela Román has been living in Salem, Oregon where she is a photojournalist/videographer for the Statesman Journal — a daily USA Today Network newspaper. She covers day-to-day assignments for all sections of the paper and is able to adapt to any situation as seen through her work. Her responsibilities are not limited to but focus on quality photo galleries and videos that meet the newspaper’s print and online deadlines.
Michaela has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, where she majored in Digital Media Production and Multimedia Journalism. She was born and raised in El Paso and shot every sport and major event in the city throughout her college years as photo editor and editor-in-chief of her student newspaper, The Prospector. She also freelanced for various publications and media groups.
Aside from visual storytelling Michaela enjoys traveling, meeting people and the San Antonio Spurs.
Michaela is available for freelance work currently in the Pacific Northwest.
